A Waste Water Management Company

Septic System DO's and DON'T's!

The septic tank or aerobic treatment plant is full of beneficial bacterial that is necessary for the break down of solids.
This cycle will be harmed if certain substances are added to your wastewater!

Improperly maintained septic systems can contaminate ground water and surface water with nutrients and pathogens. By following the recommendations below, you can help keep the bacteria alive and ensure that your system continues to function properly.

DO's!

  • Do have your septic tank pumped regularly. (Clear Flow recommends once every 3-5 years.)
  • Do repair any leaking toilets and faucets.
  • Do conserve water.
  • Do keep maintenance records.
  • Do wash only full loads of laundry and spread out your wash loads though out the week.

DON'T!

  • Do not flush sanitary napkins, diapers, tampons and condoms down the toilet.
  • Do not pour grease down the drain.
  • Do not use excessive amounts of cleaners and bleaches.
  • Do not dump oils, paint or paint thinner down the drain.
  • Do not allow toilets to run
  • Do not allow down spouts to drain on the field lines.
  • Do not drive over septic tank or the field lines.
  • Do not flush egg shells, cigarette butts, or coffee grounds.
Regardless of how well your system has performed in the past ...
      Don't be fooled!
In time, some maintenance will be required!
